The US gambling industry is in for a treat following three states legalizing sports betting while three others regulated casino gambling within their boundaries. Maryland, Louisiana, and South Dakota finally opened their doors to sports betting three years after the historic US Supreme Court decision to lift a previously imposed ban.
While Virginia approved land-based casinos at four locations, Colorado expanded its gaming portfolio while eliminating wagering limits, and Nebraska authorized casino games at its numerous horse racing tracks.
According to the University of Nevada’s gambling historian David Schwartz, the American market is gradually opening up to the idea of wagering, and the recent announcements verify the facts. The regional governments are finally convinced that regulating the gambling industry is mutually beneficial in the long run.
The American Gaming Society hailed the votes, calling for greater progress in the fields of job opportunities, revenue, taxes, and regulated entertainment. Considering the current scenario, over 25 US states are projected to offer regulated gambling services by the end of 2021.
Caesar’s Entertainment soon shared a tweet thanking voters for green-lighting its Danville proposal. At the same time, South Dakota is well on its way to commencing in-person sports wagering. However, despite being the best-seller, mobile betting is off the table, at least for now!
